How it all began ... A brief history of HLFC

Harlequin Ladies Football Club was established in September 1995 when a couple of Quins fans moved into the area and wanted to set-up a Ladies team. The idea soon grew into a squad of players that went on to win their first league campaign and ending the season unbeaten.

During the early years, Harlequin Ladies went from strength to strength, establishing a highly successful youth side, forming strong links with the main club and the local community, and developing an enviable social calendar!

During recent seasons, the Ladies have worked hard to rebuild their club after a number of players retired and relocated. Since 2012, over 25 brand new ladies have now been introduced to the great game of rugby, and over 20 of those have been training and playing regularly. The ethos of the club is now about introducing and developing new players to the game, and acting as a link for those U18 players wishing to continue into adult rugby.

The ladies enjoy playing competitive league and cup rugby, but love a good social too!
